Dave and longtime friend Karen Lee Batten were honoured to present Chris and Jamie Ruscheinski (AKA Twins Cancer Fundraising) with the 2016 BCCMA Humanitarian Award, for their work on the annual event: Gone Country, Here for the Cure.
This annual one day festival hosts some of the best Canadian and local country acts, while raising money towards cancer fighting causes.
Dave and Karen have both been lucky to have performed at the event in each of its first four years.
Those four events have seen the boys raising 1.8 million dollars! The award could not have been more well-deserved. Money over the years has gone towards the purchasing of advanced screening equipment for the BC Cancer Agency, the renovation of the Easter Seal House in Vancouver, plus donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, BC Children’s Hospital, and Canuck Place in Vancouver.
Their most recent act of good comes from a donation to Canuck Place in Abbotsford (hospice for terminally ill children) to help build a recording studio not only for the children to use, but for the parents to keep a recording of their son or daughter’s voice forever. Congratulations to Jamie and Chris!
