Happy 75th Dad. Recently celebrated his milestone Happy 75th Dad. Recently celebrated his milestone w a great family dinner. He got two things: a trip to his hometown of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, & a retirement watch he flexes pretty damn hard. To many more lucky years ☘️
Opening for @keithurban was amazing. I was alway Opening for @keithurban was amazing.

I was always inspired by Keith’s playing and performances, & loved a certain rare telecaster that was the first one he became known for. It was a special purchase for him early in his career in NYC. I found a slightly beat up one at a music store in Hawaii & my dad got it for me as a grad gift. I picked it up in -40 degree Saskatoon winter weather at a FedEx outside of town and still remember the excitement opening it.

My dad, mom & sis made it over to Sunfest to see the show and all this go down on Fri, which made it extra special.

Back stage, Keith grabbed mine & had a look at the production number, and told me about the two he has. He noticed immediately it didn’t have the pick guard on that it came with. He put an extra hole in his for a third pickup. I had taken it off mine so he could sign the inside of it for me, which he was gracious enough to do, along with the one I had put on the guitar to play for my show.

I didn’t want to try and be too cool. I told him how much joy his music has brought to me as a fan, and how much fun it’s been to play his songs over the years. He gave me a big bear hug!

Keith gave me a nice shout out during his set and of course played a great show, and left the entire crowd happy as he always does. He played THE guitar on a lot of songs that night, captured in the photos. As soon as he finished playing, we played another set right after him for the beer gardens crowd. The ops team told me he said on stage he felt like he was opening for a big party later that night, which of course is something a guy that humble would do. Legend.

I can’t thank the family at @sunfestcountry enough - Mike, Greg, Marcie, and to Jenny, Saran, & Keith’s PA for making this moment happen.

Thank you @keithurban for being as cool as I hoped you’d be! Something I won’t forget.

Gone Country raised $1,456,000 in its 10th and fin Gone Country raised $1,456,000 in its 10th and final year. Every year we’ve played it, my very talented band volunteered the performance, so I want to thank the best dudes anywhere in music @gazbeaumont, @woodrylan, and @philbellbass.
Thank you boys!

Other years @jmtate3, @jontucker16, @mrmattygbass and other awesome players also donated as part of my band, and each year was a blast.

Thx to @karenleebatten @k.l.b.entertainment who first invited me to be part of this event in 2013, the very first year. Playing guitar in your band has also been so fun. I wouldn’t have met all these great people without you.

@chris_ruscheinski @jamieruscheinski (@twinscancerfundraising): what you guys built is beyond my ability to put into words. Your mom is so proud of you. Your friends are so proud of you.
THANK YOU for letting me be one of them. @angelaruscheinski @loverusch @hailssr @mr_mattcain @katiescain @joelscountry @sammysb17 and so many I’m going to forget, I love you guys and thx for letting us be part of and sharing in YOUR event.

Thx to all the volunteers, tech and sound crew esp Hanna @hvorli6, MC Andrew, @mikeylikes49ers and anyone who did anything to be part of this.

Thx to @hearsmartsolutions for the phenomenal custom moulded in-ear monitors you gave to all the artists. They look and sound amazing, and I encourage any musicians on my feed to check out our and get a pair. Thx to @bulletsnbeadz for the really cool wrist band. Hope people will check out your page and buy some sweet country jewelry.

Last but not least thx to anyone who bought a ticket to the finale or any other year, or anyone who donated time or money to this great cause. This was something that spiraled out of control, in the best possible way, from a backyard BBQ to honour a mother who fought cancer valiantly.

The twins donated a significant amount of money one year to one of my own friends who fought a tragic rare form of cancer and I’ll never forget that.

What a legacy 🩷
